
Threshing Bee Tales: The Northern Illinois Steam Power Club
The Northern Illinois Steam Power Club will host its 66th annual Steam Show and Threshing Bee this August. Learn the history of the Northern Illinois Steam Power Club, and their plans for the future, at a presentation Sunday, May 21 at noon, at the Glidden Homestead, 921 W. Lincoln Highway in DeKalb.
“Threshing Bee Tales: The Northern Illinois Steam Power Club” program begins at 12 p.m. $5 general admission, free for Glidden members. Proceeds from the program support the Homestead.
The program will be presented by Grace Druien, board member of the Northern Illinois Steam Power Club. Along with her husband Austin, they own a 1914 50 HP Case engine. The Northern Illinois Steam Power Club is based in Sycamore and their purpose is to preserve and develop steam power as an educational hobby and to recall the days when steam was the basic power source in factories, in factories, fields, and transportation, and to provide educational programs about steam power.
