DAWC Great Safe Cracking Challenge
The DeKalb Area Women’s Center invites the public to its Great Safe Cracking Challenge on Saturday, October 21 from 11 AM – 11:50 PM. Two unopened historical safes from the 1940s or earlier are housed in the DeKalb Area Women’s Center and we are challenging amateurs, hobbyists, and professional safe crackers and locksmiths to try and open one or both. Nobody knows what’s inside!
Everyone is welcome to try, as well as to watch live as our crackers undertake the challenge. A lineup of excellent PG-13 heist movies such as Oceans 13, Sneakers, and Logan Lucky will be shown for entertainment. Come for the spectacle, stay for the films with refreshments. For a turn at cracking either safe, Crackers will be charged $10. for a 30-minute slot. Turns will be scheduled on a first come, first serve basis. Tickets include access to films and refreshments.
Observers pay $8. at the door to observe our crackers in action in real time, watch our film lineup of heist movies, and partake of beverages and snacks in the Great Hall. All ticket sales benefit the DAWC and contribute to our continued flood recovery/mitigation. Parking is available in the lot one half block south of the DAWC off of 11th Street.
