Lunch & Liberty Series: Not a Trivial Pursuit

As the nation continues to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the United States and approaches the 2026 General Election, the League of Women Voters of DeKalb County and the DeKalb County History Center are partnering to encourage thoughtful conversations about the Constitution, civic engagement, and the foundations of American democracy.

Join us for “Lunch & Liberty,” a new four-part book discussion series led by the League of Women Voters of DeKalb County and based on What Does the Constitution Actually Say? by Ben Sheehan.

The series offers an accessible and engaging opportunity to explore the U.S. Constitution, consider its historical context, and discuss its relevance to our lives and democracy today.

Series Schedule
All discussions take place on Tuesdays from 12:00–1:00 p.m. at the DeKalb County History Center, 1730 N. Main Street, Sycamore.

Tuesday, September 22 — ARTICLES II & III

Tuesday, September 29 — THE BILL OF RIGHTS

Tuesday, October 6 — REMAINING AMENDMENTS

Each session will focus on a different section of the Constitution and invite participants to ask questions, share perspectives, and explore both the historical context and contemporary significance of the document.

No time to finish the reading? No problem! Those who are unable to complete the reading are still welcome and encouraged to attend. You can participate in the conversation whether you’ve read the assigned material or not. Feel free to bring a lunch or just join the discussion!
