La Inmigración a Través de la Obra Los Inmigrantes

As part of the DeKalb County History Museum’s current exhibit “Adventures To and From Sycamore” the topic of immigration is explored. On March 1, Eduardo Cabrera will come to Conexion Comunidad and discuss his play “La inmigración a través de la obra Los inmigrantes.”

He will read selected passages from his original play, “The Immigrants,” and will lead the audience in discussion of a variety of issues related to the experiences of Hispanic immigrants to the United States, including motivations for immigration, fears and tensions experienced by immigrants, relations between immigrants, differences of socio-economic status among immigrants, immigrants’ relationships with family and friends in their native countries, immigrants’ personal and professional ambitions, and issues related to adaptation and assimilation. This presentation will be delivered in Spanish. The program is possible to the generous support of the Illinois Humanities and our partnership with Conexion Comunidad.
