KSO: “The Price is Right: Celebrating the Life of Florence Price.”
A first concert of the season is “The Price is Right: Celebrating the Life of Florence Price.” This concert will be the first in KSO’s history to feature the work of Black composers Florence Price and Samuel Coleridge-Taylor.
Florence Price is of particular local interest; she was a Chicago-based composer and the first African-American woman to have her music premiered by a major American orchestra (the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, in 1933).
For 45 concert seasons, the Kishwaukee Symphony Orchestra has been proud and privileged to provide classical and popular musical performances for our region.
Northern Illinois University no longer requires that masks be worn inside of university buildings during the COVID-19 pandemic. However, persons preferring to wear masks are encouraged to do so.
