Junior Volunteer program ~ Conducting an Interview
Junior volunteers will work with Sarah Jesmer is a reporter and producer at WNIJ Northern Public Radio. She’s covered stories related to social and criminal justice, current events and agriculture since spring 2018. She’s a DeKalb native, a Canadian American, and loves people-focused journalism. She acts as editor for select WNIJ interns and has helped teach audio workshops to beginners.
Junior volunters will be introduced to the principles and ethics of public radio, the basic practices of planning and gathering news stories, and recording and producing those stories for broadcast. The Junior Volunteers will then apply these skills as they plan and conduct interviews connected to the History Center’s next exhibit.
Next Junior Volunteer program meeting is January 15.
