Good Food

This exhibit at the Pick Museum of Anthropology explores food issues in northern Illinois and highlights the organizations and individuals making food accessible, sustainable, equitable and nourishing for everyone in our community. While “good food” is defined differently by everyone, we all deserve access to food that supports our individual and collective well-being.

Good Food was developed and curated by NIU students in consultation with faculty, community organizations and local producers. Topics include reducing food insecurity, improving access in rural food deserts, caring for soil health, sharing gardening resources and knowledge, cultivating sustainable methods for production agriculture, advocating for fair labor, managing water quality, rethinking nutrition education, revitalizing Indigenous foodways and connecting with others through food.

Gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and closed during university breaks. Free admission. For more information, www.niu.edu/pick-museum, 815-753-2520
