Brown Bag Lunch “The Miller/Ellwood Cabin: A DeKalb County Historical Treasure”

Join the Ellwood House Museum on Thursday, April 2, at noon for a fascinating exploration of local history with Al Roloff from the DeKalb County Forest Preservation District. 

In his presentation, “The Miller/Ellwood Cabin: A DeKalb County Historical Treasure,” Roloff will share the story of the William (Bill) Miller family, detailing the construction of their cabin and the experiences it has undergone over nearly two centuries. Attendees will also have the chance to view tools and artifacts from the cabin, highlighting the skills involved in its creation.

Roloff, who retired in 2018 after a distinguished career, began as a volunteer in the 1990s and subsequently became the District’s first Natural Resources Manager, specializing in wetland, prairie, and woodland restoration.

“The Miller/Ellwood Cabin: A DeKalb County Historical Treasure” is part of the “Brown Bag Lunch Lecture Series,” free monthly programs offered in collaboration by the Ellwood House Museum and DeKalb County History Center. Registration is not necessary, and participants are welcome to bring lunch and eat during the program. This program is partially supported by a grant from the Illinois Arts Council.
