Arts in Action: Our Words, Our Truths: Community Stories Among Us

Since 2017, Dr. Ada Cheng has worked to create platforms for people to tell difficult and vulnerable stories. A former DePaul University professor, Cheng utilizes storytelling to illustrate structural inequities, raise critical awareness, and build intimate communities. Over the last month Dr. Cheng has worked with DeKalb community members to explore and develop their own stories.
On April 25 from 6:30 – 8:00 PM, these speakers will share their stories in a free showcase event. The program will be hosted in Ellcourt, one of the Ellwood House Museum’s two historic homes. Parking is available on-site at 420 Linden Place in DeKalb.
This event is made possible by a generous Healing Illinois grant. This event is part of Arts in Action, a joint initiative from the DeKalb County History Center and Ellwood House Museum to tell a more inclusive and accurate account of DeKalb County’s history.
This program will be held at Ellcourt, at the Ellwood House Museum.
